Shakou Restaurants landed on the Chicago suburban restaurant scene in 2013 with the opening of the original location in Libertyville. The vision behind the Shakou brand is to bring the “city vibe” to the Suburbs through trendy Modern Asian Cuisine restaurants. Each Shakou Restaurant’s atmosphere has a uniqueness of its own while staying true to the core vibe of the brand venue vision. Each location features perfectly balanced décor, stylish comfortable seating and cool colored lights bouncing off of carefully placed Asian art work accompanied by euphoric house beats subtly bumping in the background. Shakou Restaurants have been named in the Top 100 Hot Spot Restaurants in America and in the Top 10 Chicago Asian Eateries by Open Table. Shakou Restaurants’ award winning Asian cuisine and ambiance has also be featured in various media outlets such as Forbes Magazine, Chicago Magazine, Sheridan Road, Forest & Bluff, NS Modern Luxury, Quintessential Barrington, Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald Readers’ Choice, Suburban Life, ABC, NBC, Fox News ,WCIU and WGN. Shakou St. Charles was the second location for the Shakou Restaurants brand; it opened in 2015.

Sang Choi

Leading the Shakou band of Ninja Warrior Chefs is Shakou Executive Chef, Sang Choi. Chef Choi is a master of Asian Cuisine with 15 years of experience including leading roles all over the Chicagoland area at trendy eateries such as Blue Fin, Blue Ginger, and Star Fish to name a few. Chef Choi is excited to be constantly cultivating new Asian fusion dishes for the Shakou menus to create the innovative selections that are re-defining fine dining in the Suburbs of Chicago.

Shakou Cares Program: The Shakou Cares program is the Social Mission of Shakou. The owners of Shakou designed the program to help support local causes within the community. Shakou wants to help you raise funds, find cures and champion worthy causes.
